Industry: Communications and AI infrastructure
Use case: Multi-motion partner program, automated deal registration, partner enablement and CRM integration
Challenge
A previous PRM couldn't scale across multiple partner types. It had no automated commissions, no API or MCP access and no native LMS. Fewer than a quarter of partner deals reached the CRM early enough to forecast on.
Why Journeybee
One platform for every capability, automation through API and MCP, deep native CRM integration, automated partner journeys at scale and competitive pricing, plus a team willing to build custom features and integrations.
Outcome
Automated deal registration through multiple forms, with submissions available through email, Slack and the Partner Portal. The CRM integration removed around half of manual syncing, while partner onboarding became faster, more consistent and trackable.
About Telnyx
Telnyx builds and operates the infrastructure behind real-time AI and communications. The company owns its global network end to end: private backbone, edge points of presence and GPUs alongside the media plane. Voice, messaging, wireless, inference, networking and storage run as composable primitives on one control plane, delivered by a licensed telecommunications carrier founded in 2009 and headquartered in Austin, Texas.
In June 2025, Telnyx launched a new Partner Program built for a wide range of partners, from channel partners and distributors to solution providers and system integrators. Through the Telnyx Partner Program, partners can resell Telnyx services, refer qualified leads or act as strategic advisors, and each role comes with its own commissions, enablement resources and support.
That range of roles is where the program gets its strength, and also where it gets complicated. Every partner type needs its own path through the program, and every one of those paths has to be tracked, supported and paid correctly.
Before Journeybee: a young program on a platform that couldn't keep up
Telnyx's partner team wasn't buried in admin. Manual work such as updating records, chasing deal status and re-sending materials took around 10–20% of their partner-related time. The bigger problem was that the platform underneath them had stopped growing with the program.
As Telnyx added more partners and more partner types, the old PRM began to hold it back. It showed several of the classic warning signs that a program has outgrown its tools. Commissions weren't calculated automatically. There were no APIs and no MCP server. Telnyx builds API-first infrastructure for its customers and wanted the same automation in its partner operations. The platform also couldn't support different partner motions side by side, so referral partners, resellers and advisors were all pushed into the same workflow.
Visibility was the biggest blind spot. Fewer than a quarter of partner deals reached the CRM early enough to forecast on. For a program meant to drive real pipeline, that left leadership with very little to plan around.
Partners noticed the gaps as well:
“Lack of visibility, and no native LMS offering meant partners opening multiple pages, which meant fragmented data and experience.” — Paul Cross
The admin load was manageable for the moment. The direction was the worry: each new partner and each new motion added a bit more friction. Telnyx needed a platform that could scale before the manual work did.
With Journeybee: one platform, built to flex
Choosing a partner, not just a platform
There wasn't one single reason Telnyx chose Journeybee. Several came together: the depth of the native CRM integration, the ability to automate personalized partner journeys at scale, and competitive pricing for the value delivered. Paul described what tied it together:
“A single platform for all capabilities, automation via API/MCP, and a team willing to work with us to implement new and custom features and integrations.” — Paul Cross
Each of those answered one of the old problems directly.
- One platform instead of many pages. Deal registration, the resources library, enablement and partner data sit together in one branded partner portal, so partners no longer have to piece their experience together.
- Automation through API and MCP. Every Journeybee plan includes a REST API, webhooks and an MCP server for AI agents, so Telnyx can run its partner program with the same API-first approach it uses everywhere else. The Partner MCP server also lets AI clients such as Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor read and register leads and create and update deals in natural language. For more on why this matters, see “PRM Meets MCP: How AI Agents Actually Connect to Partner Data.”
- A team that builds with you. Telnyx's program doesn't follow a standard template, so it needed a vendor willing to adapt.
A collaborative rollout
Implementation took about as long as Telnyx expected. The part Paul highlighted was the collaboration, with the Journeybee team adapting to Telnyx's specific requirements and customizations instead of forcing a standard setup.
That set the pattern for the relationship. Paul describes Journeybee's support as exceptionally fast and solution-oriented, and says Telnyx's feedback and custom requests turn quickly into product changes. Telnyx sees its own feedback in recent releases, considers the roadmap agile and forward-thinking, and has watched the platform evolve to meet its scaling needs.
A CRM integration that cut syncing in half
Before Journeybee, partner deals rarely reached the CRM in time to matter. Now Journeybee's native CRM integrations take over much of the manual data entry and cross-platform syncing the team used to handle. Around half of that work has gone.
The CRM is no longer a record that gets updated after the fact. Partner activity flows into it automatically, which is the foundation Telnyx needs for forecasting and partner attribution. It's a practical example of why a single source of truth matters so much for partner teams.
Deal registration that meets partners where they work
The clearest example of the change is deal registration.
Telnyx partners don't all work the same way. A referral partner passing along a qualified lead needs something different from a reseller or a strategic advisor managing a longer sales cycle. Instead of sending everyone through one form in one portal, Telnyx used Journeybee's automated deal registration to set up multiple forms, each built for a different partner motion.
Once a deal is submitted, it doesn't sit in a single inbox. Submissions go to email, Slack and the Journeybee Partner Portal, so the Telnyx team sees new deals in the tools they already use. This is the headless partner portal approach in practice, and the “PRM for Slack” guide covers how that side of it works.
“We have been able to use Journeybee's automation to enable deal registration through multiple forms, with deal submissions available via email, Slack and Partner Portal.” — Paul Cross
Deal registration and deal collaboration are now the features Telnyx and its partners use most, alongside the resources library for sales and training materials.
Enablement partners actually use
The old setup had no native LMS, so partners had to go looking for training across separate pages. With Journeybee's resources library and partner learning management system, enablement content now lives next to deal registration. Partners consume it in a consistent, trackable way, and Telnyx can see who is engaging with what through partner analytics.
Partner onboarding has improved as well. It's noticeably faster and more consistent, and the timeline is 10–15% shorter.
Room to keep growing
Telnyx is open that the work isn't finished. Email threads, status-chasing and duplicate data entry still surround some partner deals. The next step is bringing Technology Services Distributors (TSDs), an important channel in telecom, into the platform. Journeybee's distributor management system is designed for this kind of multi-tier channel.
Because Journeybee can be extended through API, MCP and custom work with the Journeybee team, Telnyx can add new motions like this without hitting the limits that held back its previous PRM.
Results: steady, measurable gains
Telnyx's results show a program that is becoming more efficient and more visible, with clear room still to grow.
The most important change is consistency. Partner engagement is modestly higher and much more predictable. Onboarding follows the same path for every partner. Leadership can now see which partners are driving growth, where before fewer than a quarter of partner deals were visible in time to forecast.
Asked how he would describe Journeybee to a peer, Paul put it simply:
“Journeybee is a great platform that gives you the capabilities to automate the manual work, and gives you time back to focus on growing your partners.” — Paul Cross, Director of Partner Success, Telnyx
Advice for partner leaders
Paul's main advice is to automate before the manual work piles up:
“Manual work builds up quickly as you scale a new partner program. It's important to automate early, and Journeybee has helped us to do that.” — Paul Cross
From Telnyx's experience, three priorities stand out:
- Choose a PRM that fits naturally into your existing tools and CRM. If partner data doesn't reach your CRM automatically, you can't forecast on it.
- Prioritize vendor responsiveness and platform flexibility. Your program will change, and your PRM vendor should be able to change with it.
- Automate low-value tasks early. Deal routing, data syncing and enablement delivery are easy to handle by hand with ten partners and much harder with a hundred.
